Current Mood: Confused Not quite…
Okie, so after large amounts of poking to actually post something … here is what’s currently happening in the land of me.
Our bedroom, after much work, is starting to look like a bedroom again. It is decorated (mostly) and stuff has been moved out of much of the rest of the house (mostly). Sadly stuff is now boxed awaiting sorting before being brought back in.
How much of an improvment that is …. is open to debate.
I’m sure photo’s will be forthcoming once things are looking respectable (we currently have no cupboard doors).
I’ve not been too useful recently due to random unwell, decorating, more unwell, and a minor mental breakdown.
Depression sucks. Personality fragmentation is worse.
Attempting to reassemble a personality with duck tape is quackers.
I will refrain from further confusing you with tales of my messed up mind.
What else…
Work? Well I suppose I’ll get further nagged if I start talking about the side projects that have been taking up my attention.
I have discovered that the core difficulty in writing good control panel software is that the things you generally do with control panel software are not, in themselves, things that are pleasant to think about.
That said, I’m starting to make progress with Make it funky.
I also note wonderful things happening in the world of audacious … spidy-sense says this new interface is gonna be awesome. For that, I’m willing to put up with partially broken stuff for now :p
Hurm, it’s light outside. I suppose I should consider making another trip in to the outdoors again shortly … see what’s happenning in the rest of the world.

Current Mood: Here bugs… Progress continues… (esp for the benefit of Cew :P)
- Harmony:
- Session manager now should have basic functionality working nicely, just awaiting some feedback on further upgrades.
- The Security control panel is working, although a couple of it’s features aren’t fully wired in yet.
- The Time control panel is also working nicely. The core now has timezones and smart date handling.
- The bbcode system has had a major rework, providing greater flexibility and resilience … not to mention it should be faster.
- The foundations of the new quicklink is in place and being used by the Time control panel.
- Hopefully more updates on the control panel will be following soon.
- The dynamic images code has also seen some updates…
- In it’s first steps from prototype to service, the whole setup has now moved to it’s own subdomain.
- The runescape comparator now displays your progress through the level and indicates which skills have had recent xp gains
- After much consideration, I’ve decided the theme on Make it Funky needs further tweaking… some details about it have been annoying me.
That seems to be all I can think of for now heh.

Current Mood: Esctatic First off, hello to Planet Atheme, enjoy my random nonsense
Antidepressants are wonderful things. In general I classify them in to two sorts … the happy pills that just mask the problem, and the type that try to correct the problem. For the former I have little time, but I decided to try another swing at the latter group, see if they’ve improved since the last time I tried them.So around a month ago, I made a trip to my local friendly (and helpfully co-operative) GP to discuss medications. The result was a 5mg/day dose of escitalopram, an SSRI I had heard a lot of good things about. SSRI, that’s Selective Seratonin Reuptake Inhibitor, a drug to increase the level of nice neuro transmitters, or at least that’s how I understand it heh.Either way, a month of that stuff and it was time for a review. While they had had a slight effect on the apathy and general lack of energy I’d been feeling, it wasn’t quite what I was after, so the up the dose goes, 10mg/day.
All I can say is wow.
First off, the most noticeable effect.
I’m one of these people that likes my sleep. Fibromyalgia can cause a sleep rhythm disruption, such that if I don’t get 10-12 hours sleep, I wake up feeling really knackered. More often than not, I sleep longer … and since I go to bed rather late, it’s not uncommon for me to go to bed after 4am, get up late in the afternoon, and over the course of a few days let my sleep pattern invert.
So imagine my suprise when the first day after starting the new dose, I get up when the alarm goes off feeling perfectly awake. No going back to sleep, no ridiculously long sleeping.
Next day … get up -before- the alarm goes off. And the next day.
3 days on these tablets, and I’ve woken up sensibly each day. Infact, last night was around 8 hours sleep.
I am, of course, totally knackered due to being totally unaccustomed to relatively little sleep, but I’m sure that will pass over time.
Well that’s good.
It’s a little early to be sure, but my mood seems much less “miserable”, and I do seem to have more energy (even with being tired). Other subtle effects … I’ll have to get back to you on that heh.
Someone asked me if my IRC quit message is supposed to make sense. Since most people don’t get to see it that often, let me take a moment to detail and discuss it.
Quit: Absolute boredem can destroy entire family gatherings. Here is just killer l33tness. More nobodys organise parties. QUEEN RULES. Salute time utterly, valiantly, wasted. Xerox your zebra!!!!So let’s break that down.
- Absolute boredem can destroy entire family gatherings.
Anyone that’s ever been to a family event will know that a sure way to kill the event is to have everyone utterly bored.
Not just slightly bored, that can be recovered by a few quick engaging conversations, but totally bored out of their skulls.
- Here is just killer l33tness.
Well this quit message is rather cool, isn’t it
- More nobodys organise parties.
This can be taken two ways. Firstly it is a suggestion that more nobodies should organise parties.
Secondly it is a statistical observation that this is already true.
Gotta love Queen.
- Salute time utterly, valiantly, wasted.
Again, this can be taken two ways.  Firstly it’s a suggestion that we should honor the act of killing time in highly efficent ways and enjoyable ways.
Secondly it’s an admission that I spent far too much time writing this quit message
A little zen for you.
Perhaps it means we should try to preserve zebras?
Perhaps it’s a suggestion for a more entertaining christmas party?
Maybe it’s a just doesn’t mean anything?
Possibly, just possibly, there aren’t nearly enough words begining with X and Z
But no matter what, it sounds so cool
So why this collection of statements? Because I decided to create a set of sensible sentances such that their first letters spelt the alphabet.
Yes, I really was that bored.
I might post again later if I can get some work done to have something to post about lol.

Current Mood: Cool … wouldn’t it be nice if people actually commented
Another few months go by, guess I really should try to post more often.
First off, I should just mention that we’ve upgraded to WP 2.3.1, hopefully I’ve fully adjusted our theme to their changes. Do let me know if you spot something I’ve missed.
Not sure where to begin with what I’ve been up to …
I’ve started working on refactoring what is to be Project Harmony …
Livepage is approaching a nice feature set, though it still needs work … anyone interested in helping would be gratefully received.
Not sure what else to list :/
Hmm, lets see about doing more posting here heh.

Current Mood: Here bugs… & Sickly (Note: some of the links in this post are pointing to pages still under heavy construction.)
So I’ve not been feeling so well this week… nasty evil migraines
But I have once again been a little lazy in my whole bloging bit, so here’s some progress updates for my non-existant readers to read…
Where to start…
Well the last post on worky stuff was … 2 months ago? bleh… so a lotta stuff to go at here.
Lets start with livepage … that’s making rather nice progress. Over the last two months a whole lotta customisability and funky features have gone in. There’s now much more interesting templating features (though they’re yet to be completed), there’s a lot more features in the sidebar … some interesting bugs have been fixed.
Yeah, LivePage is rushing on full steam ahead, and hopefully will be at release quality some time soon so I can get on with something else while the testers work their magic. Actually the code is currently up for testers… anyone intersted in joining the effort, give a shout (or leave a comment).
Chained has made some rather impressive progress in the configure/install department, and now has a much more useful configure script, which is being slowly ported to the other projects in the chained family.
Work has, slowly, started on the smtpd project … not much to talk about there yet, it almost meets the minimum implementation requirements, but sadly doesn’t actually do any mail storage as yet. Early days and all that
Mythica has been resurrected, and will soon be attacked to make it work well with Chained.
Speaking of resurrections, Suzi is back! ^_^
Our main website has been ported over to the new livepage code, and is looking rather nice for it.
oh, what else *scratch head*
Probably a ton of other stuff I’m missing here.
One thing I should mention is that work on Shadow Caster is slowly progressing as I get my head round inventing a new sort of physics
Again, if you’re interested in providing feedback, please give me a shout, or even leave a comment.
I’ll try to put more postings here more often

A couple of gargoyles for this week’s pictures… it’s a shame that they don’t put gargoyles on houses, cause they’re kinda cute in a grotesque gothic way.

Well I didn’t manage manage to sign off on livepage, but I have some web work done.
The blog’s design is tweaked to look a bit better, including the new intersite nav bar up in the top right which is now on most of our core sites.
I have also, at long last, completed the design for makeitfunky.co.uk, which is now just waiting for some content.
I’m quite proud of that design actually.
Anyway, should really get back to work on livepage now.
